I wanted to talk about a thing, which is important to me: the construction of an image, how much it needs to be staged, how does one arrive at this image? is a figurative painting always an image, etc.? and I will do that, but I want to take this lecture in a slightly different direction.

Jannis Marwitz is a painter living in Brussels. After studying at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Hamburg and Städelschule Frankfurt he completed a two year post-graduate program at De Ateliers in Amsterdam. He has exhibited at S.M.A.K. Gent, Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens, Deurle, Kunsthalle Fri Art, Fribourg, Kunstverein Düsseldorf, Ludwig Forum, Aachen, ZKM Karlsruhe and MMK Frankfurt. Solo exhibitions were shown at the Dortmunder Kunstverein, Damien and the Love Guru, Brussels & Zurich, Galerie Barbara Weiss, Berlin, Marwan, Amsterdam and Sundy, London amongst others.
